Currier Museum Of Art

New Hampshire People and Places (3rd-12th grades)

1 hour tour followed by 1 hour activity.

1 hour : The State of New Hampshire has inspired artists for centuries.  Using the Currier's collection to explore works of art with Granite State connections, students will interpret depictions of NH residents, leaders, and landscapes (real and imagined), while considering the ways in which artists have interpreted the inhabitants and scenic terrain of the state over the years.

Here is a sample of the artwork you might see on the tour.

Please only register students in grades 3-12 for this event as space is limited. We recommend that you visit Livingston Park with younger children while the older students tour the museum and complete the activity.

Sorry, the event is now full and we are unable to accept more registrations at this time.

NH State Historical Society Museum

A visit to the New Hampshire Historical Society, located at 30 Park Street in Concord, is a great way to reinforce student learning in a stimulating environment. Upon entering the monumental rotunda of the Society's historic 1911 building, students will see iconic objects and images of New Hampshire's history, including the original eagle that once sat atop the state capitol, portraits of royal governors, and a rare Revolutionary War flag of the Second New Hampshire Regiment.

In the exhibition Discovering New Hampshire, on view in the second-floor gallery, students will learn about people, places, and events in New Hampshire history through a rich assortment of museum objects and archival materials from the Society's collections.   In a hands-on activity, held in the Society's auditorium, students will use artifacts to delve into how everyday life in New Hampshire has change over time.

This event includes a tour and educational / fun activity.

There is road side parking only.  Please arrive early and bring money for the parking meters.  The meters accept nickels, dimes and quarters.  The average cost of the meters for 2 hours is 2 dollars.
